Baitoey (her nickname) is a quiet girl. She is also very neat. Her favorite subject in school is Thai language. In her spare time, she helps her grandad clean the house and do laundry. Baitoey’s “grandparents” could not have any kids and offered to adopt the grandmother’s sister’s child, who is Baitoey’s dad. Baitoey’s dad was a heavy drinker and smoker and her mom split with him when Baitoey was only one month old. Her dad would work and use the money to buy liquor and bring his friends hom to drink. Baitoey’s mom never contacted the family again. So now Baitoey’s grandparents take care of her. Grandma can’t walk because she stumbled and broke her leg and grandpa is deaf so they both don’t work. They receive an “elderly allowance” of 700 baht a month (equivalent to $20 a month) from the government which they use to help Baitoey. Thank you for reading her story. Please support Baitoey for her brighter future.
